Peter Van Wijnaerde’s Summary

I’m driven by people and media, how they interact and influence each other. For me this domain is perfect to distribute stories, build services and touch lives. Preferably in innovative, creative or forgotten ways.

My passion goes out to everything on a screen. I'm a television obsessed internet addict with a soft spot for gadgets like handhelds. As long as I'm around these things I'm happy.
I thrive in an environment that is free, open and honest. Where people have not only skill but also heart. I have a broad set of interests and like to be faced with different subjects, ideas, opinions and people. Next to my opinion I share my enthusiasm and passion with others. I'm convinced this is the best way to motivate others.

During my early years I was a community builder and gained a lot of insight on how and why people want to interact. This payed off when I started working in online advertising. At this time I picked up more commercial skills and worked as a strategist directly with clients as well as creatives.

I’ve been faced with many challenges. Some say I'm a natural but intuition on itself isn't always trusted by others. To tackle this I have studied and taught myself several techniques to ask the right questions, frame arguments and detect contradictions. This allows me to build solid and credible strategies.

I was privileged to work with the best of the best and took advantage to learn from these people. This is something I do intuitively. I like to learn every day, I consider myself the eternal beta, never a finished product.

As for the future, I always worked online but my ambition is bigger, working on internet projects has its satisfaction, but when it’s combined with other media or hardware the fun just starts.

    One Agency is the latest generation new-media agency. It has a strong focus on social media and unique view on how to reach and interact with the consumer.
As account strategist I was responsible for the strategies for our clients and partners. In most advertising cases I took the position as strategic planner. This involved writing creative briefings for the creative team. I defined and guarded the message and focus of the campaign.

I started working there in team with the strategic planner to define messages and strategies to reach the target group. Every consultant had his core tasks, mine were social media, word of mouth and user experience. During those days I also gained some skills in e-commerce and eCRM.

    DAC-planet hired me for a 1 year task to find some new opportunities in the online market. At that time DAC was mostly active in the distribution on mobile content like ringtones. During my time there I worked with a technical team to create services for the new 3G network Vodaphone was launching.

    LookNmeet.com started out as a hobby but became the biggest youth social network in Belgium. This enabled us to make a job out of it and create other services like datik.be (in 2004 an influential VL datingsite). I had an active roll in the growth of the network sites. After some time I decided to spread my wings and started working for Incrowd. This company is better known for it’s spin-off, Netlog. At that time it’s biggest service was Redbox, one of the leading social networks in Belgium. I worked there for a short time on a revamping of the current community site.
