I developed messages highlighting enterprise and industrial policy actions across a broad spectrum of sectors and articulated political positions in areas from entrepreneurship education to transatlantic economic cooperation.
I edited and managed a major online and offline newsletter and associated email news alerts. I wrote and edited speeches, articles and press releases, revised policy statements and prepared material for events, audio-visual presentations and the web. I conceived and produced a video clip presenting the work of the DG and redesigned the website of Vice-President Verheugen.
I was also a regular consultant for colleagues in the development of their communication initiatives. These notably included work on launching the European Enterprise Awards, directing an evaluation of communication links with SME stakeholders and participating in the communication steering committee of the European Partnership for Alternatives to Animal Testing.
(Public Company; WPP; Marketing and Advertising industry)
1996 — 2002 (6 years )
OgilvyOne worldwide in Paris provided the central direct marketing resource for the IBM account in Europe. The “Production Hub”, which I set up on joining the company, offered the design, translation, adaptation and production resources needed to roll out direct marketing campaigns across the Europe, Middle East & Africa region, as well as being the link between off-line and on-line communications. We also handled worldwide implementation for the Air France account.
In addition to broadening my experience of handling the representation of major organisations, I became familiar with a wide range of direct marketing and advertising techniques. I was involved in both a consulting role – determining the most appropriate strategy for communications – and a management role, running overall operations, selecting and directing the necessary resources.
