Christoforos Korakas was born in Brussels in 1972.
He has a BA in Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Athens (Greece) Faculty of Law Economics and Political Science Department of Political Science and Public Administration.
He has a MA (DEA) in Political Science, International Relations from the 'Université Catholique de Louvain' (UCL) Belgium. He did his Master Thesis in 1998 on "Cyber Democracy, Social and Political Implications of ICTs" with Prof. R. Petrella.
He is working for the European Commission as Quality Management Officer in charge of Information and Communication Strategy and Applications for Directorate E in DG EuropeAid since 2008, and has served in the past in DG INFSO/ DG SANCO/ DG EAC and the European Agency for Vocational Training (CEDEFOP - based in Greece) as Expert / Advisor on Information Society and Communication Issues.
He has also worked as an eGovernment consultant for CapGemini/ Ernst&Young (BE), among others on the Greek part of the "e-Europe 2005 eGovernment report" (2001).
He has also served as advisor to the Greek Minister of Economy and Finance, appointed as advisor to the Secretary for Information Society (2002-2004). Main tasks included: drafting policy, coordination among ministries and stakeholders on IS policy implementation, coordination of activities during the Greek Presidency of the EU, representative of the Secretary and the Ministry to the OECD (ICCP) and European Commissions ' work groups: eEurope2005 High Level Advisory Group (DG INFSO), eBusiness Support Network Steering Group (DG Enterprise), presentations on behalf of the Secretary to many national and international forums and conferences.
He was also Project Manager then Scientific Director at the Greek based NGO access2democracy (2004-2008), as well as R&D Projects Advisor at the Research Academic Computer Technology Institute of Greece, working among others on eVote / eDemocracy projects (2006-2008).
